Josh assists clients by developing individualized estate plans to create and implement federal and state estate tax reduction strategies which preserve and protect their assets during their lifetime and insures that those assets ultimately pass to their heirs in a tax efficient fashion.  

Josh advises clients on all aspects of estate planning matters including estate, gift and income tax planning; preparation of wills, trusts (including revocable and irrevocable trusts), durable powers of attorney, health care proxies and beneficiary designations; and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.

Josh routinely advises fiduciaries in the administration of wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, charitable and non-charitable transfers, providing counsel and assistance through the entirety of the administration process, all within the context of the federal and state tax environments.

Tax Law

Josh’s years of experience as a tax attorney enable him to formulate solutions for entrepreneurial clients seeking synergy of their estate and business succession plans.  He counsels individual and corporate clients on all aspects of estate, gift, and income tax planning, including like-kind exchanges of real estate, federal and state tax audits, offers in compromise agreements, installment agreements, tax collection matters, and various other federal and state tax issues.  In this regard, Josh spends a great deal of his practice interacting with the Internal Revenue Service and New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.

Business & Corporate Law; Business Succession Planning

Josh acts as general counsel to various corporate entities and provides counsel in regard to various business and corporate law matters, including tax planning, succession planning, general corporate governance, minimizing liabilities, and the formation and structuring of business entities, including corporations, limited liability companies, limited partnerships, and family limited partnerships.

Josh prepares and administers transactional agreements relating to various corporate matters, including shareholders’ agreements, operating agreements, and buy-sell agreements, all designed to facilitate the succession of family businesses and assist business owners in achieving business and personal objectives in a tax efficient manner.  

Josh provides general counsel to various non-profit corporations including public charities such as colleges, universities and hospitals, as well as numerous private foundations.

Josh believes that establishing trust between him and his clients is essential in order to develop a personalized estate and business plan.  Josh is committed to establishing trust by communicating openly with his clients, gaining an in depth knowledge of each client’s personal and business goals, and utilizing his legal knowledge to best advise his clients as to the planning strategies that will best serve their needs and objectives.

Josh is a member of the Monroe County Bar Association and the Estate Planning Council of Rochester.  Additionally, Josh also serves as a Legal Advisor for Digital Rochester.


Josh lives in Penfield with his wife and two sons.  He enjoys traveling, skiing, motorcycling, and being active in the community.
