PARTNER JOHN WELLS ELECTED AS ATTORNEY CO-CHAIR FOR MCBA LITIGATION COUNCIL

Wells, Esq., a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department, was elected as the Attorney Co-Chair for the Monroe County Bar Association’s Litigation Council, the representative body of the Litigation Section.  The election, conducted on June 25, 2020, also resulted in the Hon. Debra A. Martin being elected as the judicial co-chair following a successful term by the Hon. William K. Taylor. Mr. Wells, who currently serves as the Council’s secretary, will be replaced by Christina M. Deats, Esq., who was also elected by the Section’s membership.  Mr. Wells, Ms. Deats and Justice Martin will serve a one year term beginning July 1, 2020 and be eligible to serve for a second one year term.
 
The Litigation Section of the Monroe County Bar Association exists to advance the legal profession by promoting and sponsoring continuing legal education courses, reporting decisions of interest issued by state and federal courts, and matters relating to federal, state and local rules governing the practice in federal and state courts. It also seeks to preserve and promote high standards of ethics, integrity, honor and professional courtesy and to encourage and promote interface and dialogue between members of the bench and bar respecting civil practice before state and federal courts.  The Litigation Council’s purpose is to facilitate the work of the Section and exercise general supervision and control of the affair and activities of the Section.  
 
Mr. Wells expressed gratitude for his colleagues support saying, “I am honored to have been selected to serve and will strive to help continue the good work of the Litigation Section.  I am excited to be working alongside talented professionals like Ms. Deats and Justice Martin.”
