Lacy Katzen is a medium size law firm serving clients with a broad range of Legal needs. We work in practice groups drawing on experience from attorneys on the transactional and litigation side of our practice. We seek to add an experienced Litigation Attorney to our firm to work directly with clients to manage personal injury cases from beginning to end. Case types include medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, medical and products liability, motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall incidents, etc. This experienced position drafts pleadings, conducts discovery, including depositions, engages in motion practice, conducts research, and produces writings necessary to prosecute claims. Advises clients, develops litigation strategies, gathers evidence to support claims, prepares legal documents, advocates for clients in court and at mediation, and negotiates with insurance carrier and/or defense counsel. Attorney provides updates and regularly consults with Supervising Attorneys as commensurate with experience. We would like to talk with candidates who hold five (5) years of litigation or related experience and who are licensed to practice law in New York State.

Salary range: $100,000 – $125,000, commensurate with experience

Ideal candidates will have experience preparing pleadings and written discovery, researching and briefing complex issues, presenting oral argument, taking and defending depositions, and possesses prior trial, mediation and arbitration experience. Attorney provides updates and regularly consults with Supervising Attorneys as commensurate with experience. We would like to talk with candidates who hold five (5) years of five years of litigation or related experience and who are licensed to practice law in New York State.

Salary range: $100,000 – $125,000, commensurate with experience.

We seek to add an attorney who has demonstrative knowledge of Trust & Estates law, Medicaid/Public Benefits law, Elder law, legal proceedings and processes. The attorney works closely with clients to manage a case from beginning to end. Handles estate planning and/or estate administration, public benefit applications, elder law, and asset protection plans. Counsels clients regarding owned financial products and understands income and estate tax. Conducts research, develops asset-protection strategies, prepares legal documents, presents options to clients and attends court appearances in all facets. Regularly consults with supervising attorneys and provides status of cases.

Job Description

Summary:

Elder Law Legal Assistant is responsible for assisting Elder Law Paralegals with administrative work to support Paralegal and Attorney productivity.

Essential Job Duties:

• Exhibit behavior that aligns with the Firm values: Teamwork, Excellence, Ethical Behavior and Common-Sense Financial Practices.
• Assists paralegals with estate planning documents: Wills, Power of Attorney, Living Wills, Health Care Proxies, and various types of Trust Agreements.
• Works with financial advisors and client’s family to fund trusts.
• Processes and records deeds and real estate documents.
• Accurately prepares and submits all documents within required timeframe.
• Opens, maintains, and closes files upon completion.
• Schedules and calendars appointments.
• Maintains wills and will vault.
• Travels to meet clients and act as a witness for signings.
• Maintains time entry of required billable hours.
• Provides excellent internal and external client service on the telephone and in person according to Lacy Katzen policies.
• Maintains confidentiality and discretion in client matters.
• Assists with additional projects, overflow work and vacation coverage.
• Establishes and maintains positive relationships firm wide.
• Abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
• Provides additional administrative assistance as needed.
