Prior to joining Lacy Katzen LLP, Ryan practiced law with a law firm in Canandaigua, New York, where he handled matters involving entity formation, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, succession planning for closely-held businesses, litigation, residential real estate, and estate planning. While attending Albany Law School, Ryan completed the Pro Bono Scholars Program and took and passed the Bar Exam prior to graduating, which allowed him to work with Legal Assistance of Western New York (LawNY) during his final semester. At LawNY, Ryan represented low-income individuals and families in eviction and foreclosure defense cases. Prior to law school, Ryan served in the United States Secret Service as a Police Officer in the Uniformed Division’s Special Operations Section, where he protected the President and the Vice President and their families, as well as senior members of government, the Supreme Court, and the military during events at the White House.
